Are you an experienced and detail-oriented tax and accounting professional with a passion for accuracy, leadership, and continuous improvement? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our growing team in a full-time, in-office role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a broad range of accounting and tax functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting both internal operations and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliations of key general ledger accounts (e.g., mortgage impounds, suspense accounts), identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entry preparation and financial report generation.
  • Insurance Coordination: Act as a liaison for insurance-related matters, managing relationships with agents and assisting with accounts payable and claims processing. Prior insurance experience is a plus.
  • Tax Compliance & Preparation: Assist in the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns. Organize and analyze financial data for corporate and partnership filings. Support strategic tax planning, including cost segregation, capital expenditures, and changes in ownership or property use.
  • Cost Segregation Support: Perform reconciliations and allocate property costs for ongoing cost segregation studies to ensure accurate depreciation and tax reporting.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior accounting team members. Promote a collaborative, growth-oriented work environment.
  • Audit Preparation: Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation. Address auditor inquiries and help ensure smooth and timely audits.
  • CAM Reconciliations: Complete common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations for commercial tenants with precision and transparency.
  • Special Projects & Support: Participate in various accounting initiatives and assist with other tasks as needed to achieve departmental and company-wide goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (required).
  • CPA license (required)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting (experience in real estate or property management preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (experience with RealPage is a plus)
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive both independently and in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
